| 英文摘要: | Hou qi (“distinguishing the vapours”) was a theory or an experiment for determining seasons using the pitch-pipes. This paper discuss the course of the origin, development and decline of hou qi, describing its test method and variations, exposing it as a sham. It also uses basic knowledge of modern musicology and science to explain the absurdity of “the Great Theory of hou qi”. | ||||||
