中文摘要: 自明末传教士入华以来,西方科学仪器以进贡、购置、仿制等方式大量输入宫中。以新发现的清宫抄本《仪器总说》为中心,辅以其他文献,对清宫西方科学仪器的收藏与分等进行了初步研究,指出从形制或工艺等方面清宫科学仪器被分为三等,与瓷器、书画、古玩等的分等相呼应;此外,清代的科学仪器从礼制层面亦可分为三个等级。《仪器总说》对清宫62 件科学仪器的形制和用法作了详细的介绍,其中对七政仪、复摆、反射望远镜的介绍,均是中文文献中最早的,为我们了解当时西方新知在中国的传播提供了难得的材料。
英文摘要: Since Jesuits came to China in the late Ming dynasty, a large number of Western scientific instruments were introduced into the court in the forms of tributes, merchandises or imitation. Based on the newly found manuscript Yiqi Zongshuo, this essay discusses the collection and classification of Western scientific nstruments in the Qing court, and points out that these instruments were classified into three grades either according to their workmanship (corresponding with the grading system of ceramics, paintings and other antiquities), or according to their significance in the ritual system. Yiqi Zongshuo explained and illustrated the structures and functions of 62 Western scientific instruments in detail, among which Orrery, pendulum and reflecting telescope were first introduced in China, demonstrating how new Western knowledge was disseminated at the time.
