Yao Dazhi focuses on the history of science and technology in the 18th and 19th century France, phenomenology of science and technology, historiography of science and technology. He is Deputy Director for the Department of History of Western Science and Technology at the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences (IHNS, CAS). He holds a PhD in Philosophy of Science and Technology from Peking University in 2010.
